Every Christmas tree that is grown is unique. No two Christmas trees are exactly the same. Some grow wide, others grow narrow. When we pick Christmas trees for customers who don't visit our shop, such as our online customers; we generally pick a Christmas tree that is not too wide, not too narrow. A good balance if you will. However, one size does not fit all, and if there is a specific size you require (you may have loads of space and love a wide bushy tree for example, please email Colm at colm@christmastree.ie right after you place your order and tell him your requirements. Once he knows exactly what you want, rest assured, that is the Christmas tree that will be delivered to you.

Our Christmas Trees

Whether you call to our Christmas Tree shop at the Blackrock Hurling Club and pick out your own Christmas Tree, or order your Christmas tree online for delivery, we literally have the best quality Christmas Trees. Period. We get regular deliveries of fresh trees so you are guaranteed a fresh Christmas tree when you purchase from us. We have two types of Christmas Trees to choose from, the Nordmann Fir and the Fraser Fir.

Nordmann Fir

Our Nordmann Fir Christmas Trees are our biggest selling Christmas Tree and the best selling Christmas Tree in Ireland for over 15 years. They are the perfect all rounder; the shape of them is the ideal triangular shape, nice and bushy, that epitomises a perfect shaped Christmas Tree, and they are one of the best for needle retention.

Fraser Fir

The Fraser fir is the new kid in town as far as Christmas Tree growing. Its the biggest selling Christmas tree in the United States, and is also known as the White House Tree, as its the Christmas Tree of choice in the presidents home. Its needle retention is excellent, its a narrower tree, so its ideal if you have less space, and the foliage tends to run right to the top of the stem, giving it a lovely pyramid shape. Its a very hardy tree, and its evident when you touch its dense foliage, making it ideal for those that love to put lots of baubles on their tree. It also has a lovely silver colour under its foliage, and best of all, a tremendous aroma from it. If you are after that lovely Christmas tree smell to smell out your room at Christmas, the Fraser Fir is the perfect choice.

Tree Care Tips

The best way to keep your Christmas tree fresh is to invest in a water stand. They are inexpensive, it will keep your tree fresh over the Christmas Season, and you can reuse it every year. There are some strict rules though. A small slice (around half an inch to an inch) needs to be cut off the base of the tree before it sits in water. The internet is full of different recommendations, as to how long you have from the time you cut the slice, until the time the base sits in water. Some say 1 hour, others say 8 hours. From my own experience, I recommend the sooner the better. My best lasting trees in my own home, sat in water just 30 minutes after I made that cut. Having said that, even if you put it in water after 8 hours, its still going to be in better shape in January, than if you hadn't sat it in water at all. Two tips for you. Add a little bit of sugar to the water, or a fizzy drink. Sounds crazy but trust me, it will help absorb the water better into the tree. And throw in a copper coin as well. It will help kill the bacteria in the water, so the water absorbed is fresh.
